Our Sacred Hoop of Life

For Native Americans, the Sacred Hoop or Circle of Life represented interconnectedness, no beginnings, no ends. We evolve with the world, following the natural cycles and changes. The main idea is that we are part of the all and the all is part of us. These forgotten concepts come handy and critically necessary these days when the world has become so detached and differences outweigh similarities, making us aliens in our own world, strangers to each other, foreigners to ourselves.

The Sacred Hoop embodies every entity. It teaches us that whatever we do affects, positively or negatively, the entire all like a ripple effect. These were the ways of our ancestors no matter their cultural background. I still remember the stories were I was told about being entrusted with special talents. We all are. We have been given definite roles and responsibilities. We are all a unique patch in the quilt of life. Our contributions to the world completes this sacred circle. It is up to us to make it a masterpiece.

These are the times when we must go back to those voices. It is the time to come together and stop fighting each other believing that our truth is the only truth; that our way is the only way. It is the time to remember what is truly important for us as members of this sacred circle of life. It is time of healing and regeneration; time of beginnings so there will be no ends.
